SOUP FOR THOUGHT

SOUP FOR THOUGHT

Chinese soup is all about nutrients and taste. While most Chinese restaurants offer a variety of soups, there are always benefits to home-cooked soups, especially with the free reign over ingredient choices and adjustments made according to personal preference.

Loaded with vitamins and minerals, Papaya Pork Rib Soup is an ideal choice for a weekend healthy indulgence. While pork bones are high in calcium, papaya and sweet corn also boast a number of vitamins and antioxidants. A good bowl of Papaya Pork Rib Soup is rich in nutritional constituents that promote strength, tonify blood, and is perfect for nourishment in times of sickness or health.

 Ingredients:

  • Pork Bone, 300 g
  • Papaya, 1
  • Sweet Corn, ½ cob
  • Water, 3 litres
  • Salt, 2 tbsp
  • Pepper, a dash
  • Sesame Oil, 1 tsp (optional)

 Instructions:

1) Rinse pork bones and blanch in Thermos® Shuttle Chef® inner pot to remove odour. Drain and fill pot with water once more. Simmer for 15 minutes over low heat.
2) Cut sweet corn and papaya into small pieces.
3) Add sweet corn into soup. Continue to simmer for another 10 minutes.
4) Transfer inner pot into outer pot, add seasoning, and let cook for 1 to 2 hours.
5) Remove inner pot, add papaya into soup and bring to boil over low heat. Simmer for 15 minutes.
6) Ready to serve.
