Exploring Changi: 7 Activities to Do with the Kids without Boarding a Plane

If you’re looking for an alternative location to take your kids for an outing, why not take them to the airport?

Singapore Changi Airport is undeniably one of the best airports in the world. It’s huge and an attraction on its own - you don’t need to leave its premises to have a day of fun with your family.

Here are 7 activities that you can do inside Singapore Changi Airport.

1. See the HSBC Rain Vortex Light and Sound Show (Jewel)
443

It’s the tallest indoor waterfall in the world and the heart of Changi. With a display of water cascading down over 7 storeys at the heart of Jewel, the HSBC Rain Vortex is a huge attraction in the airport.

Aside from taking photos with the waterfall in the background, you should also see the Light and Sound Show on Monday-Thursday at 8pm and 9pm, every Friday-Sunday (including eve of Public Holiday and Public Holiday) at 8pm, 9pm, and 10pm.

2. Have fun at PLAY! by Kinderplay (Terminal 3)
444

Located in Terminal 3, PLAY! by Kinderplay is a haven for children who want to enjoy a day of indoor fun. This playground features both The Powerpuff Girls and Cartoon Network’s Ben 10, as well as five main play areas: a huge ball pit with slides and an anti-gravitational wind machine, a bouncy minesweeper, a bouncy balloons area, a ball blaster arena, and different obstacle courses. Remember to bring your Thermos® One-Push Tumblers to keep the kids hydrated.

3. Get arty at Ducks N’ Crafts (Jewel)

Do your kids love arts and crafts? Let their creative juices flow by shopping at one of the most popular arts and crafts stores in Singapore, Ducks N’ Crafts, with one store location at the Jewel Changi Airport. Here, you’ll find a wide range of products that your kids will surely enjoy.

4. Go plane spotting at Viewing Malls (Terminals 1 and 3)
446

If your kids haven’t tried plane spotting yet, Terminal 1 (Level 3) and Terminal 3 (Level 4) in Changi Airport have viewing malls where you can pick a spot and see planes taking off and landing. Kids will love this view and it will also inspire you to save up for your next family trip. Don’t forget to bring the Thermos® Food Jar with their favourite snacks, so they won’t be hungry while counting those planes.

5. Wander around Changi Experience Studio (Jewel)

Changi Airport never runs out of attractions to visit, and the Changi Experience Studio is one that you should check out. This area features 20 interactive touch points where you get to see different digital projections telling you about the airport’s history, how it runs and other information on aviation that will teach kids and adults alike.

The Changi Experience Studio allows for state-of-the-art technology - a first in Singapore and Asia - that includes a garden that can sing, an adrenaline pumping runway race, and so much more! You’ll need to set aside 90 minutes to get the full experience, so make sure you bring along Thermos® Straw Bottles to keep the kids hydrated.

6. Visit Canopy Park (Jewel)
448

Located at Level 5 of Jewel, Canopy Park is an amazing 14,000 square-metre recreational space where your kids can enjoy a wide array of activities while admiring beautiful foliage. You can go to the Discovery Slides, Petal Garden, Foggy Bowls and Topiary Walk.

And if the kids are hungry after a day of exploring, you can enjoy good food at one of the diners in the area. Just make sure to bring your Thermos® Sports Bottles to keep everyone hydrated.

7. Check out the Pokémon Centre (Jewel)
449

Finally, you can’t miss dropping by the first permanent Pokémon centre in Asia outside Japan. This store has all the merchandise you love, so you won’t need to travel to Japan to shop for all your favourite Pokémon products.
