7 WAYS TO PERSONALISE YOUR OFFICE DESK

Let’s face it – whether you work in an office or work from home, we tend to spend most of our week at our work desk. This is why it’s important to add some personal touches to your space to make it cosy and visually pleasing to inject some cheer and you motivated through the week.

  1. Pimp your screen

Adding your personal aesthetics to your desk can be as easy as picking out a screensaver or downloading a wallpaper. Rather than seeing a mess of opened windows or cluttered folders on your desktop, having a screensaver will also help your space look neater and calmer.

  1. Keep a plant

Being indoors all day can give you the blues, but you can counter that with some greens in the form of hardy low-maintenance plants. Succulents and cacti are perfect options as they are easy to keep alive and are great at absorbing radiation from electronic devices. Alternatively, you can get dried flowers to add a pop of colour without having the hassle of maintaining a fresh bouquet.

  1. Switch your mouse pad

More than a smooth surface to glide your mouse, mousepads are another way you can add some colour and design to your desk. Instead of the boring black felt pad, get one with whimsical designs or trendy minimalist ones to go with your overall aesthetics.

  1. Cover up your seat

Hide your clunky office chair behind a nice throw to give it a visual makeover and also create a homely feel for your desk. If you can’t find a suitable throw, you can use a beach towel, which tends to come in a wider range of designs or add a printed cushion with the bonus of better lumbar support.

  2. Get corky with your décor

If you’re seated next to the wall, install a corkboard to stick little things that will help lift your mood, like photographs, postcards, quotes, decorative pins, or magazine cut-outs. Alternatively, you can use pegboards or grid boards, which are better for displaying bigger, bulkier items, but make sure you have room for it without cluttering your space.

  3. Let there be light

With ceiling lights illuminating the office, you probably wouldn’t think about getting a separate light fixture for your desk. But having a decorative table lamp or a string of fairy lights will help to brighten your desk and spruce it up a few notches. Even those dreaded late nights won’t seem so gloomy anymore.

  1. Treat yourself to accessories

Give your desk a statement piece with gorgeous desk accessories, like decorative trays, bowls and boxes, that will also help keep your workspace organised. Think beyond stationeries, and look into beautiful tissue box holders or ornate canisters to stash your coffee and tea next to your Thermos® Mug.
